Attorney Volunteers Needed for Junior Judges Project – October 17-21  – The Young Lawyers Division of the HSBA is seeking attorney volunteers to help with the “Junior Judges” project scheduled for the week of October 17-21.  Volunteers will visit various elementary schools on Oahu and Maui to discuss a number of social issues with students.  This project is designed to help 3rd and 4th grade students facing tough choices in life to make the right decisions.  Issues discussed with the students include: cheating, destroying property, bullying, teasing, stealing, drugs and alcohol, gangs and peer pressure.  Students will watch short video clips containing a variety of scenarios, and are then encouraged to participate in a discussion to identify the various issues from the video, what the “right choice” would be and possible consequences for failure to make the “right decision.” Presentations generally run from 45 minutes to an hour.   Volunteers are especially needed for areas in Ewa, Waianae, Kapolei, Kailua, Waipahu and Kailua-Kona on the Big Island.

Please contact James at 792-7338 or via email at JamesM@HSBA.org if you are able to help or need additional information.
