Annual Awards
Justice Award	The Justice Award honors an attorney who has made an outstanding contribution to the ideals of justice. Considered factors include the extent of pro bono legal services, efforts to actively support legal activities beneficial to society as a whole and work that encourages the education of the public on legal issues.
Liberty Award	The Liberty Bell Award honors a non-lawyer who has made an outstanding contribution to the community in a law-related field. Nominees will be selected for their contributions to a better understanding of our form of government, a greater respect for the law and the courts, and a better appreciation of the role of law in our society.

 

 

The Young Lawyers Division of the HSBA is seeking nominations for its 2009 Liberty Bell and Justice Awards which will be presented at the YLD-Senior Counsel Division Annual Meeting in October.  The Liberty Bell Award honors non-lawyers or organizations who have helped to promote a better understanding and respect of government, for the legal system and an appreciation of the role of law in our society.  The Justice Award honors an attorney who has made an outstanding contribution to the ideals of justice.  Considered factors include the extent of pro bono legal services, efforts to actively support legal activities beneficial to society as a whole and work that encourages the education of the public on legal issues.  Nomination submissions may be sent in writing to the Hawaii State Bar Association, 1132 Bishop Street, Ste. 906; Honolulu, HI  96813.  Deadlines for submissions will be August 7, 2009.  Please include any supporting documentation you feel may help determine the qualification of the candidate.  Please contact James at 792-7338 for more information or if you have any questions.
