PROGRAM:

Proof, Protection, and Peace of Mind for Your E-Communications
for the Family Lawyer

Do you use e-mail to send important communications, such as settlement agreements, notices to opposing counsel, or agreements for finalization …?

Does your firm rely on traditional methods such as an archive of the “Sent” folder and/or Outlook read receipts to record sending and delivery of these emails…?

If the answer is yes, you may be exposing yourself and your clients to liability in case of a dispute involving e-mail. Traditional e-mail systems are outdated in light of federal and state statutes that give electronic messages the same legal status as paper documents.

It may be disconcerting to hear, but using standard email for business purposes is similar to signing a blank check or a contract written in pencil, and then mailing it without any form of confirmation. It is like taking a gamble that no one will ever dispute the content or delivery status of your messages.

This webinar will provide you with practical guidelines to assist in your daily legal practice, enabling you to deliver important correspondence electronically. Focusing on examples from their own law practices, our panel of family law experts will discuss how you can electronically send documents with verifiable proof of delivery, all with a simple click of the mouse. The Registered E-mail service provides you with legally verifiable and admissible evidence that your e-mail was delivered, with an official time stamp proving content and time sent and received, including attachments.

In addition to proof of the e-mail transaction, the services discussed include one-click options for electronically signing e-mail and documents, binding agreement by e-mail with return of verifiable electronic records of agreement, encrypting e-mail for extra privacy, and managing e-mail overload.  Participants will walk away with tips & tools that they can put to work immediately for their clients, to reduce risk, time and cost, while providing the courtroom edge in any e-mail related challenge.
