    ACCESS TO JUSTICE ROOM TRAINING call for volunteers! Training sessions will be made available by appointment for the convenience of attorneys. The Access to Justice Room on the third floor of the Honolulu District Court needs volunteer attorneys to provide limited short-term legal advice to walk-in clients. Subject areas: residential landlord-tenant; consumer debt collection; and district court restraining orders. One hour of Mandatory Continuing Professional Education (MCPE) and two hours of Voluntary Continuing Legal (VCLE) credits will be available to those who attend the training.   • The HSBA license renewal registration portal for 2013 will open no later than December 1st on the HSBA website. An announcement will be emailed to members when the 2013 online portal is open. Materials will not be printed. When the portal opens for license renewal, please read through the instructions carefully to ensure a complete application and to avoid renewal delays. The deadline to complete the online 2013 renewal registration will be December 31, 2012.

    Other reminders:

    • If you are planning to change status for the year 2012, the 2013 online registration form should NOT be used. Instead, contact Ms. Liberty Castillo in our membership department directly to change your status at Changes in status effective for 2012 must be processed (including completion of RSCH 22(i) requirements) by December 31, 2012.
    • Please visit our online portal at and login using your username and password to verify that they are still working. If you cannot gain access for any reason, please contact the HSBA.

    Need MCPE credits before renewal registration? The HSBA is offering several courses for viewing online for your convenience. These courses may be purchased through the CLE website.

    As a reminder, active members must complete 3 MCPE credit hours by the end of each year.  For more information on how to complete your annual requirement please go to our HSBA MCLE webpage.
