"What's Due? Mahalo and No Increase"

A big Mahalo to the over 400 HSBA members and others who purchased admission to our Passport to Paradise Fundraiser at the Superferry Terminal on November 6th. The fundraiser was a big financial success and a wonderful social event for those Bar members who attended. Many thanks to the many silent auction donors, including Mini Cooper of Hawaii who consigned two Mini Coopers. Thanks to our entertainers, Nathan and Hilary Aipa and Ka'anohiwaianuenue Hula Studio and to Lyle Hosoda and his ensemble for setting a wonderful mood for the event. Major Kudos to the Fundraiser planning committee, our YLD volunteers, and to our HSBA project manager Lisa Cutright who worked extremely hard on this successful event. Photos will be up on the HSBA website photo gallery soon!

The Board's Executive Committee has proposed no dues increase for next year's Bar assessments and have commented on the proposed budgets and assessments of the Disciplinary Board and the Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection. We are hoping that there will be no increase in the assessments of these Judiciary agencies that are included in the annual registration statements. HSBA dues will once again be due by the end of January 2011 for the convenience of our members.

Note: Renewal information for 2011 will be distributed at the end of November; the deadline will be January 31, 2011. CHANGING STATUS: Changes in status effective in 2011 must be processed by December 31, 2010.
