HAWAII RULES OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT: DEADLINE FOR COMMENT IS MARCH 11, 2011
The Supreme Court has posted the revisions to the Hawaii Rules of Professional Conduct, requesting comment by March 11, 2011. The proposed amended rules, an executive summary, a “compare” version showing changes from the current version of HRPC, and video vignettes discussing the most controversial of the proposed amendments are available here. Please review the Executive Summary and the videos to understand the extent to which these proposed amendments will affect your practice of law.
NEW: HRPC Pro Bono Rule- The Supreme Court has posted revisions of the pro bono rule (HRPC 6.1)--which would allow for a $500 payment to a special fund in lieu of pro bono service. The amendment is proposed by the Access to Justice Commission. DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: MARCH 11, 2011.
