New Amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure,Local Rules for U.S.D.C. and Local Bankruptcy Rules

This is a must-attend seminar for federal civil and bankruptcy court litigators and those who calendar deadlines for them. On December 1, 2009, new amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) go into effect, along with amendments to the Rules of the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii (“Local Rules”) and the local bankruptcy rules for U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Hawaii (“Local Bankruptcy Rules”).

HSBA Offices have moved

The HSBA offices are closed (except for emergency services) on the following dates:

November 20-27, 2009

We will be relocated as of November 30, 2009 to the following address:

Phone and fax numbers have remained the same. Staff will have limited access to email and voicemail while the offices are closed and will be following up by November 30.

2010 RENEWAL UPDATE!

Renewal materials are in the mail and online registration will be available in the next few weeks. A $10 processing fee wil be assessed to both paper and online renewal. We encourage that you register online, as it will prevent you from submitting an incomplete registration, thus preventing late fees.

Once online renewal is up, the membership will be alerted via email. Registration materials have been mailed to your preferred mailing address on file as of November 15, 2009. If you have changed your address since then, you may not receive your materials timely and should register online when it becomes available.

Dates to be aware of include:

  • The deadline this year has been moved to January 31, 2010, in an effort to ease the financial expense over the holidays.   
  • Members who change status to or from inactive need to do so by December 31, 2009 so that your status in January is clear.
  • View a chart of the 2010 Fees.
