ATTENTION: CLIENT TRUST FUND ACCOUNTS
To all active HSBA Members:
Some of you have received notice from the bank where you have your IOLTA account that a .0005% fee will be assessed on the account to cover FDIC expenses. This is problematic because the interest from this account goes to the Hawaii Justice Foundation and thus the fee would be taken from your client trust funds. The Hawaii Justice Foundation is working with the banks to resolve this issue based on their agreement with the banks regarding the IOLTA accounts. We will keep you apprised of these discussions and, hopefully, a satisfactory resolution.
