UPDATE: CLIENT TRUST FUND ACCOUNTS

Message from the Hawaii Justice Foundation Regarding IOLTA assessments:

First Hawaiian Bank (FHB) in early July sent out a notice that IOLTA accounts with FHB would be assessed a .0005% fee to cover increased Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) expenses. We are very pleased to announce that FHB has determined that it will not be charging this fee to its IOLTA accounts. We do not believe that any of the other banks participating in IOLTA in Hawaii have plans to assess any similar FDIC fee on IOLTA accounts.             

Announcement: judicial opening

The Federal Judicial Selection Commission has announced that they are accepting applications/nominations for a Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii. Deadline September 4, 2009.

UPDATE ON THE FTC'S "RED FLAGS" RULE

On July, 29 2009 the Federal Trade Commission announced a 90-day delay in enforcing the “red flags” rule and providing additional information regarding how it will be applied to lawyers.
