Judges Swearing-In Ceremony

District Court Accepting Per Diem Judge Applications: The District Court Court of the First Circuit is accepting applications from attorneys interested in serving as per diem District Judges.An original and three copies of completed applications must be received by September 23, 2010. Governor Lingle Nominates Mark Recktenwald for Chief Justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court: HSBA has notified members of the nomination in an email blast and is seeking comment no later than Wednesday, August 18 at 12 Noon.
Big Island Rural District Court Calendars to Change in October: In light of the shortage of sheriffs on the Big Island and the Sheriffs Office’s new requirement that unless two officers are available to staff a courthouse none will be provided, proceedings normally heard at the District Courts of North Kohala and Hamakua will be heard at the South Kohala District Court. In addition, the Kau District Court calendar will move to the District Court courthouse in Kona. The changes are effective October 1 and will be in place until further notice. Read the press release.
New 2010 Child Support Guidelines have been announced in a Family Court Memorandum: State law requires the Family Court, the Child Support Enforcement Agency, and the Office of Child Support Hearings to use these Guidelines for all child support cases. Read the press release.
