Mandatory Professionalism Course
|
|
November 21, 2008
8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Honolulu Country Club
Brochure and Registration Form
The Supreme Court has amended HRSC 1.14, effective retroactively to July 1, 2007, to provide that the Mandatory Professionalism Course is to be taken no later than December 31 of the year following the year of election of active status.
Thus each new Admit who elected active status after July 1, 2007 will have until December 31, 2008 to complete the course. This administrative change provides a uniform deadline and avoids compliance problems arising from scheduling of the course.

SCAM ALERT!
|
|
Beware of scam emails that have been targeting collection attorneys. A scam similar to the one below has become common in California and a number of firms have been victimized. See tips at the bottom for avoiding these scams.
Example of a Scam Email:
“Attention Counsel,
We contact you to represent our company after a careful review of your profile from the American Bar Association/martindale.com. We are of the opinion that a reputable attorney is required to represent us in North America in order for us to recover monies due to our organization by our North America clients…
Once more thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to read this mail Yours truly, Lou Kong
Chairman/CEO
Asia Pacific Microsystems, Inc.
#2. R&D Rd. VI
Science-based Industrial Park
Hsinchu, Taiwan 300, R.O.C.
Tel (General): +886-3-6661188
Fax (General): +886-3-6661199”
Tips for avoiding scams:
· Research the name(s) in the email: Sender, Company, alleged Chairman/CEO. In the example above, the Company named is legitimate but the person alleged to be Chairman/CEO is not.
· Look at the return email address. If an email claiming to be from a “corporation” comes through a Gmail account, it’s probably bogus. The scam above came through a Gmail account.
